Bathtub siphon as proof of progress in sanitary engineering

by | 02.08.2024 | Case study

I am renovating a 60s apartment in a nice part of Warsaw. Today it was time for the bathroom installations. I wanted to keep the beautiful cast iron bathtub, which is no longer available in stores. To do this, I had to rip out the cast iron siphon, which weighed about 7 kg. The PVC siphon that I installed weighed 30 dkg.

This is what a DN 50 cast iron sewage pipe looks like after 60 years of use in a block of flats. The pipe passage is completely blocked by rust and some waste.
